Wimbledon Semis Set

The semifinals are set at the 2010 Championships Wimbledon with several big names dropping out earlier than expected and others making big names for themselves.

Roger Federer will no longer have the chance to defend his title at the All-England Club as he was edged out by Czech Tomas Berdych in a four-set quarter-final match. Federer played rocky for most of the tournament and had a tough time getting through his early round matches. Berdych will now compete in his second Grand Slam semifinal of the year against Novak Djokovic who has been playing solid tennis up to this point. Djokovic didn't waste time with Yen-Hsun Lu who previously knocked out fan-favourite Andy Roddick. The Serb only lost seven games and took the match in straight sets.

Robin Soderling was ousted by Rafael Nadal, but was able to take a set off the Spaniard which is one better than his straight sets loss at the French Open. Nadal will now face Andy Murray, who defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and is one step closer to winning a title on his home soil and his first ever Grand Slam championship.

The women's semifinals are quite surprising this year as No. 1 Serena Williams still remains the heavy favourite as the only woman inside the Top 20 still standing. All other top players were ousted in earlier rounds or were forced to retire due to injury. No. 21 seed Vera Zvonareva will go up against Tsvetana Pironkova as Williams will meet Petra Kvitova from the Czech Republic.
