WOZNIACKI AND AZARENKA WILL BE IN MONTREAL IN 2012

2010 Montreal champion and three-time Rogers Cup semifinalist confirm their participation

Montreal, Dec. 6, 2011 - Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark and Victoria Azarenka of Belarus have both confirmed their participation in the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank, which will be held from August 4-13, 2012 at Uniprix Stadium in Montreal.

"We are thrilled to welcome back our 2010 champion Caroline Wozniacki and one of the game's most talented players in Victoria Azarenka," said Rogers Cup tournament director Eugène Lapierre. "These two players are going to be the face of women's tennis for many years to come and it is great to see that they continue to include the Rogers Cup as part of their summer schedule."

Wozniacki was crowned champion the last time the women were in Montreal, defeating Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva on Monday after rain wreaked havoc on finals weekend. The win was her first Premier title. Since then she has won nine titles to bring her career total to 18 at just 21 years of age.

"I am excited to be coming back to Montreal next summer. I won my first big title there two years ago and I remember it was a rainy final weekend, but the fans still came out to support us," said Wozniacki. "The atmosphere on Centre Court is amazing"

Azarenka has reached the semifinals in three of her four appearances including each of the last two years. Her current ranking of no. 3 is a career high. The 22-year-old won three titles in 2011 and also reached the semifinals at Wimbledon where she fell to eventual champion Petra Kvitova.

"I have made the semifinals the last two times I played in Montreal and in Toronto last year as well. I hope that I can do even better in 2012 and win my first title in Canada," said Azarenka.

Wozniacki and Azarenka join fellow Top 10 players Vera Zvonareva and Marion Bartoli on the Montreal entry list for next August.

In 2012, for the first time in tournament history, main draw play at the Rogers Cup will begin on Tuesday August 7 with the singles final scheduled for Monday August 13 at 7 p.m. in the evening.

Tickets are already on sale and can be purchased online at www.RogersCup.com, by phone at 1-855-TENNIS-0, or in person at Uniprix Stadium in Montreal.
